KOSTAS & MARIA SKOULA - EROTOKRITOS OF VITSENTZOS KORNAROS & LEFTERIS KAI EIRINI OF KOSTAS MANOURAS

After seven years of absence, Kostas and Maria Skoula are returning with a new album, presenting their own musical compositions for Vicente Kornaros' erotic novels and Lefteris and Eirini's erotic novels. The style of the music works in the area of artistic Cretan creation influenced by Byzantine, Renaissance and contemporary music, while being surrounded by many and renowned contributors to the artistic spectrum.

Through this musical approach, Costas and Maria Skoula decided to highlight the other dimension of Erotokritos, the most epic, as this particular poetic work has a face other than that which many people know. For this reason, they chose a lengthy excerpt from "Erotokritos", which focuses on Erotokritos' duel with Aristotle, is militant and has a strong anti-war tone. The work, however, revolves around two main axes: "the love of commerce" and "the seduction of unrest", as Vicente Corner himself says in his preamble.

The CD also includes excerpts from the new long-winded narrative poem of our contemporary poet, Kostas Manouras or Prosyphri, entitled "Lefteris and Peace". The heroes in Kostas Manouras's work embody two essential concepts, freedom and peace. In the end, the poet leaves us to ponder "how much good LIFE and PEACE give birth to!" The passages selected through this poetic work relate to Lefteris's longing for freedom and to the passions of Peace from love.
