MARIA LOUKA - GIORGOS ZACHARIOUDAKIS

This project was made with considerable respect and love for Greek music. Traditional music of Greece is too rich to fit in one disk; thus, this was only a beginning… We travelled in various musical places in Greece and we finally reached Crete, our base island.
Recordings were made at the studios of the Department of Music Technology and Acoustics of the T.E.I. of Crete – Rethymnon in winter 2016. Nikos Kefaloyannis was the technical engineer. The pieces of the album are arrangements on traditional Greek melodies, while instrumental parts in tracks 4, 6 and 10 are original compositions.
We extend our gratitude to the people who helped in the realisation of this project, all acknowledged here. A big thanks to Mr Manolis Velivasakis and the Society “Cultural Crete” for their support and sponsorship. We thank Vangelis Tsagarakis for playing laouto in To na ponis kai na to les and mandolin in Tha taksidepso me ton noy. We also thank Stelios Sykakis for his inspiration and his wonderful performances on laouto, mpoulgari and bouzouki.
