Ωστόσο η ποίηση , μας βοηθάει πολλές φορές, να λυτρωθούμε απ’ τα δεσμά της φυλακής που η ζωή μας καταδικάζει και να κάνουμε ακόμα ένα βήμα, στην ατέλειωτη πορεία της γνωριμίας του εαυτού μας. Για να γνωρίσουμε όμως σε βάθος τον εαυτό μας, πρέπει ν’ ανακαλύψουμε τον λόγο που ήρθαμε σ’ αυτό τον κόσμο. Γιατί το μεγαλύτερο ταξίδι της ζωής μας ,είμαστε εμείς.
"Stavros Tzani’s book of poems “Soul in Quarantine” couldn’t be more appropriate for the most strange and difficult times Humanity has encounters with Coronavirus and the drastic measures taken by the World to combat it.
Constrained by the “loneliness” of his own quarantine of sorts, the poet searches his soul and through his poems, expresses his inner self, his feelings, his fears and his demons, wondering out loud his occasional unhappiness with his surroundings, while searching frantically for something different to clutch on and satisfy his restless soul!
Throughout his “wonderings”, the Poet finds his “god” in small things, such as a “wildflower within a tiny slit of a rock”, which grows unattended by human hand to ultimate beauty! Elsewhere and in the middle of his travels in the frozen tundra of Russia, he finds himself lamenting on one hand, the “prison of thought” he has built for himself and from which is desperately trying to escape and on the other, wondering, if he may be better off in the security of his mental quarantine! These contradicting thoughts offer him both sadness and happiness, in the realization that true happiness may only be temporary, and that love comes at the most inappropriate moments. At other times, in his mental anguish in quarantine, the Poet becomes a keen observer of the World and the cycles of life of ordinary people “wasting their time and talents aimlessly and without purpose”, not realizing that they are the true prisoners in their own boundless daily prisons.
Nature does not escape the keen eye of this day-dreaming Poet, focusing on little birds flying through the freezing wind and tree branches bending and tiring under the load of the Muscovite ice, clutching onto their flexible branches! Furthermore, the Poet’s melancholic mood carries forward form season to season detailing observations of Nature’s wonders, focusing at peoples suffering and always wondering out loud, about departed loves and searching for hope in moving forward.
All, in all, Stavros Tzanis’s collection of poems expresses perfectly his soul, spirit and restless mind and expresses his inner thoughts and feelings on a wide range of issues, things and situations!
