After some time, after many discussions and ideas about the usefulness of publishing a book on Cretan music in English and German, what we had imagined took flesh and bones.
The University of Vienna, in particular the Department of Ethnomusicology, in collaboration with the professors and publishers of the book Andre Holzapfel and Michael Hagleitner, after studying the years and precious material they had in their hands, after a "glorious" observation and knowledge of Cretan music Tradition and in cooperation with our company "Aerakis - Cretan Musical Workshop" give you with great joy and pride the book titled "Musik auf Kreta - Music on Crete - Music in Crete" - The traditions of the Mediterranean island ".
The book consists of 500 pages and includes texts in English and German.
Cretan music, a live music with constant evolution over time, is made through this study even more known and dear to the outside and not only to people who are fond of music or simply fans of the music of Crete.
The material is in-depth and very important because the book contains texts from people who act in various places about music, so each one submits his / her view and knowledge to his / her own subject.
In particular, the book contains texts of:
Jordi Alsina Iglesias, Ioannis Papadatou, Lisa Punz, Marie Theres Himmler, Olivia Vrabl and Timon Thalwitzer, Andre Holzapfel, Martina Muhlbauer, Giuseppe Sanfratello, Manu Kateris, Stefana Carina Mihaicuta, Michael Hagleitner.
Our company is really proud of this project for years now, apart from our publications purchased in Greece, Cretan music reaches to the outside through our physical and electronic store, to customers who have preferred us for years. They support us, watch our productions and rush to embrace them in every way and express our admiration for our personal musical productions every day.
For all of them, it was worth doing so!
Such a version brings them a step closer to the music of this island and we feel great joy that what we were inspired was at last a reality and that we are the means for Cretan music to reach the ends of the world, that is where it deserves!
Our future concern is that Cretan music will have its own 'brand name' abroad, a 'brand name' that tells its history, its constant evolution, its value and its place in the music world of the world!
We are very grateful to Professors Andre Holzapfel and Michael Hagleitner as well as the University of Vienna who chose us and trusted us to become co-workers in this great edition.
